Every day you read things you cannot place: words arrive, and nothing arrives with them. A TEXT THAT REMEMBERS ITSELF is about the opposite kind of text.
The film follows one real work on Colophon, When Care Carries Weight, through the seven expressions it lives in, Arabic, Urdu, French, English and the rest, each carrying its author, and through what the product keeps: every revision with the writer's own note, every edition sealed and dated with the earlier one still whole beneath it, the place you were reading kept across phone, tablet and desktop.
It shows the real product: open and read with no account; the book record with its editions; a place kept and returned to; letters written between admitted authors instead of a comment box; following a writer without a public number. Every proof is a real screen; every text is real published text from bajwawrites.com, shown as published.
